The basic Shipboard range covers standard power and communication cables for commercial ships. This is the most economical version of ShipLine, with an excellent price/quality ratio and constructed to international standards.
The Shipboard Plus range has extra features, making it ideal for ships that require a more robust cable with even greater flexibility. These cables have an extra inner sheath and circular non-compacted conductors for increased flexibility and ease of installation. This also gives them more body than the correspondent types in the Shipboard range. The added value of single cores and cables with more than five conductors is marginal, so these types have not been included in the Shipboard Plus range.
The armoured cables have tinned, copper-wire braiding for better Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC). With the exception of single core cables, the copper value in the armour of cables up to 16 mm2 is at least equal to the copper value of the phase conductors. For cables with conductors larger than 16 mm2, the copper content of the armour is half the value of the phase conductors. Safety onboard ships and oil rigs is absolutely paramount. Reliable, halogen-free cables are essential. On oil rigs and naval vessels, but also on special vessels as dredgers, requirements are more stringent than on ships such as ferries, cruise ships and yachts. And this is why we make a distinction between the economy “Shipboard” version and “Shipboard Plus” with its extra features. After all, safety and efficiency need not come at a price.
